Liechtenstein is a principality located between Switzerland and Austria. Around 40,000 people live here. At 160 square kilometers, it is the fourth smallest state in Europe and the sixth smallest in the world.

Country

Liechtenstein is located on the Rhine. The river also serves as the border to Switzerland. On the other side, Liechtenstein borders Austria.

The capital is Vaduz. Here is also the castle, the official residence of the princely family.

The official language in Liechtenstein is German. However, various dialects are spoken. Because Liechtenstein is so small, many people know each other here. Therefore, one is also not so formal in Liechtenstein and quickly uses the informal 'du'.

One third of the population are foreign nationals. The majority of them hold Swiss, Austrian, or German citizenship.
